# Email sequences

Build email sequences of up to six steps with A/B variants, checked every time you save so a broken message never reaches a prospect.

Write up to six steps with A/B variants and waits between them. ColdMeetings lists every problem at once and holds back a sequence that could not be sent properly.

## What you get with sequences

A sequence is a short series of emails with waits between them. The rules below are checked every time one is saved.

### Steps, waits and A/B variants

A sequence has up to 6 steps and each step has 1 to 4 variants to test against each other. The first variant is the control. The first step goes out right away and every later step waits at least one day after the one before.

Example (sample data): Sample sequence

1. Step 1: send right away (2 variants, A is the control)
2. Step 2: wait 3 days (2 variants)
3. Step 3: wait 4 days (1 variant)

### Every problem listed at once

Saving a sequence returns every problem found, not just the first. Nothing is created until the list is empty, so you fix the whole sequence in one pass. Subjects that pretend to continue an earlier thread, such as Re: or Fwd:, are refused.

Example (sample data): Sample problems found

- Problem: Step 2 must wait at least 1 day after the previous step.
- Problem: Step 2 variant 1 subject pretends to be part of an earlier thread.
- Problem: Step 3 variant 2 must contain {{sender_address}}.

Nothing was created. Fix the listed problems and resend.

### Room to test, sized to your plan

Several variants per step let you test subject lines and openings. How many campaigns can run at once depends on the plan. Professional lists a monthly optimization call, and Enterprise lists ongoing copywriting and continuous A/B testing.

- Professional: 5 campaigns
- Enterprise: 20 campaigns
